Relevance of Host Cell Surface Glycan Structure for Cell Specificity of Influenza A Viruses

چکیده
Influenza A viruses (IAVs) initiate infection via binding of the viral hemagglutinin (HA) to sialylated glycans on host cells. HA’s receptor specificity towards individual is well studied and clearly critical for virus infection, but contribution highly heterogeneous complex glycocalyx virus–cell adhesion remains elusive. Here, we use two complementary methods, glycan arrays single-virus force spectroscopy (SVFS), compare influenza with live Unexpectedly, found that preference does not necessarily reflect specificity. We propose SVFS as a tool elucidate cell IAVs, thereby including environment receptors within plasma membrane living

متن کاملSpecificity of the helper T cell for the cytolytic T lymphocyte response to influenza viruses
We have described a model system in which helper T cells are required to mount a primary antiviral cytolytic T lymphocyte response. The radioresistant helper cell can be found in the spleens of mice that have been immunized subcutaneously with influenza viruses 6-8 d previously. These helper cells appear to be type specific but cross-reactive among the subtypes of influenza A viruses. The pheno...

Approaches that improve upon the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of singlestrand antisense oligonucleotides are an active research topic. Antisense oligonucleotide phosphorothioates (ASOs) are highly protein bound. Therefore, it is likely that they traffic into and through cells via a protein to protein shuttling mechanism driven by binding affinity gradients.1 The ASO binding ev...

Ample evidence suggests that all influenza viruses in mammals were probably derived from those in wild waterfowl at some time. In addition to those already established in mammals, the viruses have been transmitted to both mammals and to poultry from wild waterfowl and caused outbreaks in recent years. Experimentally, however, the viruses from one species of animals do not grow efficiently in ot...
متن کاملEvidence for a host cell surface antigen on the envelope of avian tumour viruses.
Avian sarcoma viruses of the A, B, C, D and E subgroups are inactivated about 100-fold by the serum of rabbits immunized against chick embryo (CE) cells, in the presence, but not in the absence, of complement. The inactivation is not due to the action of the antiserum and complement on the CE cell cultures used for virus assay, nor to anti-Forssman antibodies, but it is presumably due to antibo...
